Germany Threatens Websites with "Hate Speech" Sanctions

The Guardian reports that German Justice Minister Heiko Maas has warned social media websites and search engines that if they do not step up the deletion of "illegal hate speech" on their platforms, the German Government will push legislation substantially increasing fines for inaction and requiring them to set up mechanisms to clamp down on such speech.

OIC Ministers Strategize on "New Media and Islamophobia"

Information Ministers from the 57 member-states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) are convening in Saudi Arabia to discuss the group's strategy for using new media "to fight terrorism and to combat Islamophobia and strengthen the unity of the worldwide community of Muslims."

IS Church Attack Signals Islamist Long War on Christianity

The recent lethal attack on a Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in Cairo by Islamic State (IS) supporters is the latest example of a long war of attrition waged by secular and religious regimes using state Islamist policies such as violence and intimidation, economic discrimination, and cultural and historical appropriation to extinguish Christianity in Egypt.
