Turkey Proposes Creation of OIC Military Arm

Turkey's delegation has proposed to the Parliamentary Council of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation ("OIC") that the 57-member-state group, whose charter characterizes the OIC as the global protector of the interests of the global Muslim community in conformity with sharia law, create a permanent military capability in the form of an Islamic Peacekeeping Force dedicated to combating the Islamic State ("IS") and to subsequent operations dealing with "internal problems of member-states."
