The shift to a "virtual caliphate" with the likely military defeat of the Islamic State (IS) in its core caliphate territories does not mean the termination of IS, but rather, implies a shift to cyber and online tactics and new battlefield theatres of operation, based on the resilience of IS' globalized struggle for territory and ideology in the name of the caliphate.

Turkish President's Bodyguards Act Violently at US Meeting

Violence broke out at a public address by Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at an event sponsored by the Turkish American National Steering Committee (TASC) in New York, with members of Erdogan's security detail apparently involved in violence on American soil against US citizens protesting the country’s turn toward Islamist autocracy.
