At an April World Economic Forum meeting in Geneva, a group of CEOs called on leaders from the Group of 20 countries (G20) to act on the findings of the global Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosure by expanding pressure on financial companies to publicly report the risks that global warming poses to their investments.

UN Agent Investigates Tax Avoidance in Panama

NGO Seeks BHR Pressure on Development Banks

The nongovernmental organization Human Rights Watch has submitted a report to the UN Independent Expert on "the promotion of a democratic and equitable international order" calling on the mandate holder to pressure the World Bank and other development banks to incorporate the global business and human rights (BHR) agenda into their procedures.

Human Rights Watch has published a call for shareholders of British American Tobacco to pressure the company to perform "due diligence" to prevent negative human rights impacts in its global supply chain, including in the US, and to publicly report its progress on addressing violations of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (BHR).

Activist organization Greenpeace demonstrates the power of nongovernmental organizations to force the hand of companies to perform "due diligence" of their environmental and human rights impacts by touting its influence on palm oil trader the IOI Group's decision to investigate such impacts and advising IOI supply chain partners to monitor the company's progress.
