NGO Pressures Companies on Supply-Chain Labor Efforts

Executive Director of the Business & Human Rights Resource Centre Phil Bloomer writes that the initiative KnowtheChain is rating corporations on their efforts to investigate and police supply chains to root out employers who use forced labor and is pressuring them to create "grievance mechanisms" to provide remedies to alleged victims of human-rights violations.

Independent.ie reports that, amid pressure and protests from the activist organization Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign at corporate meetings, Irish building materials group CRH has sold its 25-percent stake in an Israeli firm whose cement has been used in the construction of a security wall between Israel and the West Bank.
