NGO Files Complaint with OECD Body over Dam

The nongovernmental organization Survival International has filed a complaint with the Italian National Contact Point of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development ("OECD") Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises alleging that the construction of a dam by industrial group Salini Impregilo violates the rights of native Ethiopian and Kenyan groups.

Australia Announces Consultations on BHR Implementation

Australian Lawyers for Human Rights reports that the Australian Government has responded to its recent Universal Periodic Review at the UN Human Rights Council by announcing consultations on its implementation of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights ("BHR"), which may lead to the development of an Australian BHR "national action plan."

NGOs Seek Enforceable Limit on Aviation Emissions

A group of nongovernmental organizations labeling themselves the International Coalition for Sustainable Aviation has called on member countries of the International Civil Aviation Organization to adopt enforceable standards requiring airlines to drastically reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and monitor such emissions on a flight-by-flight basis.

NGO Claims Victory as G4S Sells Stakes in Israel

The nongovernmental organization Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions, which seeks to encourage the cutting of ties between businesses and Israeli territories in order to encourage change in the country's policies toward Palestine, is taking credit for the decision of British security company G4S to sell its operations in Israel.
