UN Chief Calls for Insurance Industry Climate Action

In remarks at a meeting on "resilience" in New York, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon called on leaders in the insurance industry to counter climate change by "greening" their portfolios - removing investments in fossil fuels - and by measuring their carbon footprint by the year 2020.

Norway Fund Divests from Companies Active in Coal

Bloomberg reports that, to begin its compliance with a ban on coal investments passed last year by the Norwegian Parliament, Norway's sovereign wealth fund Norges Bank has removed its financing from 52 companies with over 30% of their activity or sales in coal.
