EU Ministers Agree to Tax Avoidance Rules

Reuters reports that finance ministers of EU member states have agreed new rules seeking to require multinational companies to pay more taxes in the EU by amending rules allowing such companies to declare profits in low-tax jurisdictions and determining a common definition of "tax havens" to put pressure on non-EU countries with competitive corporate tax rates.

EU Parliament Calls for Controls on Drug Pricing

In a recent resolution expressing concern regarding rising drug prices in the EU, the European Parliament calls for EU legislation aiming "to rebalance the negotiating power of EU member states compared to that of the pharmaceutical industry" and to introduce "effective controls" on corporate procedures used to determine drug prices.
