A group of human rights-focused nongovernmental organizations have launched a website called "BHR in Law" that track legal developments related to the global effort to bind corporations to a business and human rights (BHR) regime, "with a focus on mandatory human rights due diligence and parent company liability."

The International Corporate Accountability Roundtable and the Danish Institute for Human Rights recently published the 2017 update of their "toolkit" for governments and others on the need for "National Action Plans" for implementing the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (BHR).

EU Members Agree to "Blacklist" of Alleged Tax Havens

At a meeting in December, finance ministers from EU member states agreed on a "blacklist" of 17 "non-cooperative tax jurisdictions" that allegedly allow multinational companies to escape taxation within the EU by failing to adopt international "good governance standards" on taxation.

EU Official Threatens New Tax Rules for Tech Companies

EurActiv reports that European Commissioner for Competition Margrethe Vestager has announced plans to impose a stricter EU tax regime on multinational technology companies if negotiations at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) fail to impose new tax rules on such companies by Spring 2018.
