UN Human Rights Experts Urge EU to Adopt Financial Transactions Tax

A group of United Nations independent experts, led by Special Rapporteur on extreme poverty and human rights, Magdalena Sepulveda, have called on the European Union to take the lead in promoting the adoption of a global financial transaction tax that would offset the costs of the current economic crisis and protect basic human rights.

Special Rapporteur on Movement and Dumping of Toxic and Dangerous Products Submits Report

 At the present 15th session of the UN Human Rights Council, the Special Rapporteur on the adverse effects of the movement and dumping of toxic and dangerous products and wastes on the enjoyment of human rights submitted a report that suggests the development of a set of guidelines on human rights-based approaches to the sound management and disposal of toxic and dangerous products and wastes.
