International NGO Accountability Charter

The International NGO Accountability Charter is a consortium of organizations that work globally to advance human rights, sustainable development, environmental protection, humanitarian responses, and other public goods.  The charter acknowledges that International NGOs can complement but not replace the primary responsibilities of governments to promote equitable human development and well-being.  It also seeks to promote the role of the private sector in advancing human rights, sustainable development, and the protection of the environment.  Key principles of the charter include independence, responsible advocacy, effective programs, non-discrimination, transparency, good governance, and ethical fundraising.  Signatories to the charter are required to submit annual reports on their activities and in addition are also required to include information about the environmental impact of their work.

Founding Signatories of the INGO Accountability Charter include Action Aid International, Amnesty International, Greenpeace International, Oxfam International, Transparency International, and Save the Children
