International Center for Not-for-Profit Law
The International Center for Not-for-Profit Law’s (ICNL) programs and research focus on promoting a legal environment for civil society and public participation worldwide. ICNL program areas include legal frameworks for civil society, civil society sustainability, good governance and accountability, public-private partnerships, self-regulation, advocacy and public participation, and educational initiatives. It provides technical assistance to over 90 countries, has an in-house staff of legal specialists and partners with government officials, scholars, and business leaders. ICNL provides an online library, produces several publications and reports on law in civil society, and recently began a new publication titled “Global Trends in NGO Law.”
The ICNL has offices in Washington DC, Budapest, Almaty, and Kiev as well as several alliances in Central Europe and Bulgaria. The organization receives funding through grants from the U.S. government, foundations, corporations, as well as individual donations.
