Centre for the Study of Global Governance
The Centre for the Study of Global Governance is an international institution dedicated to research, analysis, and dissemination of information about global governance. The centre works to establish a rigorous conception and typology of global governance, while also building an account of international and transnational authority structures and the changing form of authority relations. The centre also focuses on tracing the shift from government to multilayered global governance and mapping the authority of private and mixed governance arrangements beyond that of the individual state. In its work, the centre focuses on five areas of global public policy; the creation and enforcement of rules in international trade, the fight against global infectious diseases, the elimination of exploitive child labor, and the promotion of basic human rights. The majority of its work focuses on the Middle East and Southern and Eastern Europe.
The centre was founded in 1992 and is based at the London School of Economics. The organization is led by Graham Wallas, David Held, and Mary Kaldor. Advisory board members include George Soros. Notable funders include the Ford Foundation, The Rockefeller Foundation, and the MacArthur Foundation.
