Acting on recommendations from nongovernmental organizations and its Human Rights Advisory Board, the International Federation for Association Football (FIFA) has created a complaints mechanism through which "human rights defenders" and media representatives can anonymously report rights violations related to FIFA's activities.

World Bank Approves "Sustainability" Loan to Turkey

The World Bank's Board of Executive Directors recently approved a loan of just over $90 million to Turkey as part of a new "Sustainable Cities Project," through which the development institution will support the Turkish cities Antalya and Muğla in achieving "economic, financial, environmental, and social sustainability" in infrastructure, water, sanitation, and other areas.

PA Seeks to Halt US Vetoes of UNSC Actions

The Times of Israel reports that the Palestinian Authority (PA), citing the US's blocking of a proposed statement by the UN Security Council (UNSC) supporting "peaceful" protests by Palestinians in Gaza and calling for a UN investigation of Palestinian deaths, has called for the UNSC to adopt a "new formula" that would prevent the US from vetoing future resolutions.
