The World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Global Risks Report 2019 warns that a weakening of institutions of global governance will contribute to a decline in the ability of leaders to confront problems ranging from worldwide environmental degradation to, on the individual level, “declining psychological and emotional well-being.”

The Times of Israel reports that Israeli diplomats blocked a bid by Palestinian representatives to obtain observer status at the UN Conference on Disarmament, asserting the attempt of Palestine to join the panel was part of a series of efforts “to politicize the work of professional international organizations.”

NGOs: Companies Must Deny Face Surveillance Tech to Governments

A group of nongovernmental organizations has published a letter calling on tech company Microsoft to refuse to provide a face surveillance product it has developed, called Face API, to any governments, warning that government use of such technology will target “immigrants, religious minorities, and people of color in our communities.”
