UN, OECD Expand Tax Inspector Network

The UN Development Programme and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development ("OECD") have scaled up a network called Tax Inspectors Without Borders to work with authorities in developing countries to ensure that corporations pay the appropriate amount of taxes.
Canada Counters UN Committee on Overseas Corporate Conduct

At its recent review by the UN Human Rights Committee, the Canadian Government clashed with the Committee members over the country's implementation of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights to Canadian natural resource companies, arguing that its treaty obligations do not apply to overseas corporate conduct.
NGOs Seek EU Measure on Tax Reporting

Two nongovernmental organization ("NGO") representatives have published an article in which they call for the European Parliament to adopt a measure seeking to require multinational corporations to report on their profits and taxes paid on a country-by-country basis, in order to cut down on alleged "tax dodging" by businesses.
Workshop Pushes Human Rights as Basis for Climate Policies

A recent workshop co-hosted by the Business and Human Rights Resource Centre and the University of Notre Dame Law School called for activists to highlight human rights as the basis of "climate justice" - that is, the push through legal liability and policy tools to force corporations to comply with the UN's agenda against climate change.
