UN Human Rights Experts Urge EU to Adopt Financial Transactions Tax

A group of United Nations independent experts, led by Special Rapporteur on extreme poverty and human rights, Magdalena Sepulveda, have called on the European Union to take the lead in promoting the adoption of a global financial transaction tax that would offset the costs of the current economic crisis and protect basic human rights.

Working Group on Right to Development Submits Report to Human Rights Council

 At the present 15th session of the UN Human Rights Council, the Working Group on the Right to Development submitted a report in which it detailed its activities in furthering a "right to development," including a review of the work of the high-level task force on the implementation of the right to development.
