Category: Global Regulation

William Easterly

In this article, William Easterly, author of The White Man's Burden: Why the West's Efforts to Aid the Rest Have Done So Much Ill and So Little Good, responds to Bill Gates’ call for a new “creative capitalism” pursuant to which corporations and other businesses would engage in an advanced form of corporate philanthropy focusing on the design and production of innovative products specifically designed for sale in less-developed countries.  Easterly asserts that, rather than focus on “creative capitalism” that will have a minimal impact, it is better to promote profit-motivated capitalism that has led, and will continue to lead, to improved lives around the world.
