What is Human Security?

HUMAN RIGHTS

by Alexandra Amouyel

In this article, Alexandra Amouyel examines the two differing aspects of human security; a narrow one focused on the physical safety of individuals as in the case of conflict or post-conflict situations, and a broad one focused on human rights and development that concerns itself with all security needs of the individual.  Amouyel advocates for a consensus on the minimum core attributes of human security that can serve as a framework and springboard for a variety of efforts in pursuit of the various aspects of human security.  To access this article, please click here.
