Category: Development

Organisation for Economic Co-Operation and Development

Formerly known as the Development Assistance Group, the Development Assistance Committee (DAC) was created by OECD in 1961 with a five-point mandate to provide development assistance and policy strategies.  The primary mission is to consult on the methods for making national resources available for assisting countries and areas in the process of economic development and for expanding and improving the flow of long-term funds and other development assistance to them. The DAC’s work in the area of governance is carried out through its Network on Governance, an international forum that brings together practitioners of development co-operation agencies and experts from partner countries.  The GOVNET's work covers some governance issues including governance assessments and capacity development, the fight against corruption, taxation and accountability, human rights and development , transparency, taxation and governance in support of these elements of democratic governance.  To access a copy of this document, please click here
