Norms on the responsibilities of transnational corporations and other business enterprises with regard to human rights

ENVIRONMENT & HEALTH

by Sub-Commission on the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights

In 2003, the Sub-Commission on the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights of the Commission on Human Rights (now the Human Rights Council) produced “Norms on the responsibilities of transnational corporations and other business enterprises with regard to human rights.”  Although the Commission on Human Rights did not adopt the Norms, the UN Secretary-General appointed a Special Representative on the issue of human rights and transnational corporations and other business enterprises to consider the proper relationship between business and human rights, including consideration of the Norms.  To access this document, please click here.
