Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights
ENVIRONMENT & HEALTH, HUMAN RIGHTS
The Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights monitors compliance by States parties with their obligations under the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, and the level of implementation of the rights and duties in question. The Committee works on the basis of many sources of information, including reports submitted by States parties and information from United Nations specialized agencies. It also receives information from non-governmental and community-based organizations working in States that have ratified the Covenant, from international human rights and other non-governmental organizations, from other United Nations treaty bodies, and from generally available literature.
